[Financial News] Hyun Song Shin, governor of the Bank of Korea (BOK), said at a press briefing after the Monetary Policy Board meeting on the 27th that "the Monetary Policy Board's future policy is reflected in this dot plot."
In the latest dot plot, 16 of the 21 dots were placed under "hike." Specifically, six were at 3.50% and 10 were at 3.25%. That suggests there could be as many as two more rate hikes within the next six months. The remaining five were assigned to a hold at 3.00%.
Shin also explained that although Hwang Geon-il, a member of the Monetary Policy Board of the Bank of Korea, issued a minority opinion in favor of holding rates, the board still maintained broad consensus and the difference was tactical.
