Sungshin Cement's 'extended-workability concrete' retains workability for 5 hours

[Financial News] Sungshin Cement, a cement specialist, and its subsidiary Sungshin Remicon have received technical certification from the Korea Concrete Institute for their 'extended-workability concrete' technology, which keeps concrete fluidity stable for long periods.
According to Sungshin Cement on the 27th, the certified technology is a slump and slump flow retention concrete method that uses a polycarboxylate-gluconate composite admixture for transport and placement of up to five hours. It combines a polycarboxylate superplasticizer (PCE) with a gluconate-based retarder to maintain concrete slump and workability for up to five hours. The certification is valid through Aug. 24, 2031.
Sungshin Cement and Sungshin Remicon developed the technology to address site conditions in which the time from ready-mix production to placement is getting longer because of traffic congestion and greater transport distances.
In particular, it reduces the problem of concrete workability declining rapidly over time in high-temperature conditions.
Performance tests showed that the extended-workability concrete maintained workability for up to five hours even under high temperatures. Its 28-day compressive strength also met the design standard strength. Because it can be applied to a strength range of 24 to 50 megapascal, it can be used in building and civil engineering projects.
A Sungshin Cement official said, "This technology will help support continuous placement of large structures while ensuring stable construction and quality in high-temperature environments."
