Incheon Metropolitan City Government expands real-time parking information to private parking lots to improve parking convenience

[Financial News, Incheon = Reporter Han Gap-su] Incheon Metropolitan City Government will expand its real-time parking information service to private parking lots to improve parking convenience for residents and ease downtown traffic congestion.
On the 27th, Incheon Metropolitan City Government said it signed a business agreement with domestic parking platform company iParking on the 21st to provide real-time parking information.
Last year, the city established a plan to build an integrated public parking information system. Since January, it has been providing consolidated information on public parking lots in the region through the Incheon Traffic Information Center website.
Under the agreement, iParking will link real-time vacancy information from private parking lots to the Incheon Traffic Information Center, and the city will provide that information to residents through its website.
The city also plans to open related data through the Public Data Portal and other channels so that it can be used in the private sector, including for navigation app development.
As a result, residents will be able to check available spaces at each parking lot in real time and choose where to park. The city expects this will also reduce the inconvenience of driving around downtown in search of parking.
Starting in September, the city will also provide real-time parking information for 20 additional public parking lots in the region. As information from private and public parking lots is gradually integrated, the number of parking facilities that can offer real-time parking guidance is expected to continue to grow.
Park Seong-soon, director of the city's Transportation Policy Bureau, said, "We will proactively integrate and provide public and private parking information that had been scattered across institutions and platforms to resolve residents' inconvenience in using parking lots and create a more convenient parking environment."
