[Financial News] The scholarships provided by the Hoban Scholarship Foundation to nurture future talent have surpassed 20 billion won. The Hoban Scholarship Foundation is a public-interest foundation established with private funds donated by Chairman Kim Sang-yeol, and it has supported scholarships for more than 10,000 students so far.
Hoban Group said on the 27th that the foundation's cumulative scholarship support and related spending have exceeded 20 billion won over the 27 years since its establishment in 1999. This year, about 500 students received support from the Hoban Scholarship Foundation.
In particular, the foundation revamped its scholarship program this year to systematically foster talent that will lead future industries. It launched the Hoban Innovation Scholarship, which supports outstanding students in science and engineering fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), new technologies, and advanced materials, as well as the Hoban Bridge Scholarship, designed to strengthen learning and employment competitiveness among top students at specialized high schools in local regions.
It will also run the Hoban Scholarship Leadership Program to strengthen recipients' capabilities and encourage exchange. The two-day program for scholarship recipients will be held from the 27th at Splas Resom in Yesan County, South Chungcheong Province. Highlights include an AI collaborative program, training on strategic use of ChatGPT, student-led activities, and networking.
The Hoban Scholarship Foundation plans to expand its talent-development support beyond scholarship payments to include career education, industrial site visits, and networking. A foundation official said, "We will continue to support our scholarship recipients so they can fully demonstrate their abilities in their respective fields and grow into talent that contributes to social and national development."
