Seoul to Supply 250 Rental Homes for Newlyweds and Newborn Families Near Airport Market Station

[Financial News] About 250 purchase-rental housing units for newlyweds and families with newborns will be built near Airport Market station in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
On the 27th, Seoul Metropolitan Government said the 14th Seoul City Urban and Architecture Joint Committee, held on the 26th, conditionally approved a revised plan for the district unit plan for the Airport District center and the detailed development plan for the special planning area behind Gonghang-daero.
The site is close to Airport Market station on Subway Line 9 and near Songjeong Elementary School.
The plan was drawn up to supply housing on underused land and improve nearby roads and the pedestrian environment.
Accordingly, the existing plan to build a knowledge industry center will be changed to residential officetels. About 250 purchase-rental housing units will be supplied in a building with four basement levels and 14 floors above ground. The units are intended for newlyweds and newborn families, with exclusive floor areas of 59 and 62 square meters.
Pedestrian and open spaces will also be expanded. A public open space will be created along Banghwadong-ro, and the setback area from the building line will be used as a pedestrian path. The measure is designed to improve walking safety and convenience near Songjeong Elementary School.
A 4-meter-wide shared vehicle and pedestrian passage will be secured on the south side of the project site. This is expected to improve vehicle access to adjacent lots and support smoother traffic on the back roads.
Kim Chang-gyu, head of the Urban Space Bureau at Seoul Metropolitan Government, said, "Through this plan, we will supply housing on underused land near Airport Market station." He added, "We expect the expansion of public open space and pedestrian areas to improve the local residential environment."
