MDS Tech Expands Physical AI Into 'Connectivity' ... Targets Autonomous Driving and Humanoid Robots With Uniqconn

[Financial News] MDS Tech is expanding the technology scope of its Physical AI business to include connectivity. After adding vision and sensing to NVIDIA Corporation-based AI computing, the company is now accelerating its push into the autonomous driving and humanoid robot markets by securing contactless high-speed data transmission technology.
MDS Tech announced on the 27th that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Uniqconn, a company specializing in contactless connectivity solutions, to expand business in autonomous driving, robotics, and Edge AI.
The two companies will combine MDS Tech's NVIDIA Embedded & Automotive Platform with Uniqconn's ultra-high-speed wireless data transmission technology to verify its applicability in autonomous vehicles and humanoid robot environments. MDS Tech will provide the NVIDIA-based test environment and technical infrastructure, while Uniqconn will integrate its contactless data transmission technology. Based on the results, they also plan to jointly identify new Edge AI businesses and service models.
Uniqconn is a fabless company with technology that overcomes the physical limitations of conventional wired connectors and enables high-speed wireless connectivity without major changes to system architecture. It is expected to be highly useful in autonomous driving and robotics, where large volumes of data are generated in real time from sensors and cameras.
The partnership has also broadened MDS Tech's Physical AI portfolio. The company is developing its AI computing business around NVIDIA Jetson while strengthening its vision and sensing capabilities through an exclusive distribution agreement with SZ Sensing, an NVIDIA Robot & Vision Elite Partner. By adding Uniqconn's data transmission technology, the company aims to build a Physical AI value chain that spans computing, vision and sensing, and connectivity.
An industry source said, "Physical AI requires not only computing performance but also sensing and connectivity technology that can quickly transmit large volumes of data." The source added, "MDS Tech can also be seen as expanding beyond individual solution supply and moving into real-world robotics and mobility operating environments."
An MDS Tech official added, "We will continue to strengthen the foundation for verifying and commercializing Physical AI technologies in real industrial settings by expanding collaboration with specialized technology companies."
