Samsung Display expands its gaming OLED territory, with 24.5-inch QD-OLED set for mass production this year

[Financial News] Samsung Display will showcase the differentiated gaming performance of its quantum dot (QD)-organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panels through collaborations with global game companies at gamescom 2026, the world's largest game exhibition. The company also highlighted its technological leadership in the gaming monitor market by announcing plans to begin mass production of a 24.5-inch QD-OLED panel optimized for esports and first-person shooter (FPS) games later this year.
Samsung Display said on the 27th that it will carry out joint marketing with global game companies including Capcom, Krafton Inc., and CD Projekt RED at gamescom 2026, which runs from the 26th to the 30th in Cologne, Germany, local time. The company plans to showcase each publisher's new releases and flagship titles on gaming monitors equipped with Samsung Display's QD-OLED panels.
At Capcom's booth, visitors will be able to preview Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a new title in the flagship action-adventure Onimusha series, which is being unveiled for the first time in more than 20 years, as well as Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, an expansion title for the action role-playing game Dragon's Dogma 2. Attendees can also enjoy exhibits including Pragmata, Street Fighter 6, and Mega Man: Dual Override. A total of 90 QD-OLED gaming monitors, including Evnia's 32MN8900, GIGABYTE's MO32U24, and MSI's MAG 321UP QD-OLED X24, will be used for the game demos.
Krafton Inc. will offer visitors the chance to try three of the five upcoming titles it is showcasing at this year's gamescom: Project ZETA, a multi-team tactical arena game; Age Twisters, a two-player cooperative narrative adventure; and TARAE: The Unbound, an Eastern dark-fantasy action RPG. The demos will be available on 85 Alienware QD-OLED gaming monitors, including the AW2725Q, AW3225QF, and AW2726DM. A video introducing QD-OLED Penta Tandem, Samsung Display's premium technology brand for the panel's five-layer stacked structure, will also play at the Krafton booth.
At CD Projekt RED's booth, a trailer for the third expansion pack of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Songs of the Past, will be shown on eight QD-OLED TVs. Visitors will also be able to watch a gameplay demonstration using QD-OLED on three monitors.
Samsung Display also said that it will begin full-scale mass production of a 24.5-inch FHD QD-OLED panel for the FPS and esports markets later this year, using gamescom 2026 as the stage. As many global PC manufacturers announced plans at the event to launch new products equipped with Samsung Display's 24.5-inch QD-OLED, the company is moving to supply the panel in line with customer demand.
The 24.5-inch size is widely used in the FPS and esports markets, where quick judgment and precise control are essential, because it makes it easier to take in the entire screen at a glance. It has become a preferred category for gamers who enjoy competitive titles and is emerging as a key segment in the gaming monitor market.
Yongwook Jung, Managing Director and head of the Large Display Business Division's Strategic Marketing Team, said, "Games are content through which consumers can most directly experience a display's fast response time and picture quality competitiveness." He added, "Through a wide range of game content, we will promote the differentiated gaming experience unique to QD-OLED and further strengthen our leadership in the premium gaming market by expanding our product lineup to 24.5 inches."
