Hanwha Aerospace speeds up 'local production of K9A2' with Poland, discusses third execution contract and MCS cooperation

[Financial News] Hanwha Aerospace is expanding its defense industry partnership with Poland beyond the simple supply of finished products. The company will now pursue joint local production of the next-generation K9A2 self-propelled howitzer and cooperation on key ammunition systems.
According to Hanwha Aerospace's LinkedIn account on the 27th, a government delegation led by Poland's Minister of State Assets Wojciech Balczun visited the company's Changwon plant on the 25th and discussed ways to strengthen the long-term defense partnership between Korea and Poland.
The meeting was attended by key executives, including Jacek Cirek, head of Hanwha Aerospace Europe, Lee Kyung-hoon, head of Changwon Plant 3, and Heo Man-jeong, head of the Ground Systems Business Division 1. They reviewed the progress of local projects in Poland and coordinated follow-up cooperation tasks.
The main agenda was expanding cooperation in Poland's local production of the next-generation K9A2 self-propelled howitzer and in the Modular Charge System (MCS), in line with the push for the third execution contract, or K9 EC3. The K9A2 is an upgraded model equipped with an automatic loading system, which reduces the number of operators and significantly increases firing speed. Both sides agreed to boost the Polish defense industry’s self-reliance and competitiveness through technology transfer and localization. After touring the K9 production line, Balczun's delegation boarded a K9 and experienced a test drive, confirming the company's advanced manufacturing capabilities and ground weapon system technology.
