"My First Financial Life in Korea with Toss" Toss Provides Prepaid Cards to International Students at 15 Universities

[Financial News] Toss, operated by Viva Republica, is helping international students get started with their financial lives in Korea and reducing the financial gap they face soon after arrival.
On the 27th, Toss said it will provide prepaid cards to international students through the international offices of 15 universities nationwide.
The Toss prepaid card can be used for both online and offline payments after being topped up, without the need for a separate domestic bank account. International students can receive the card from the international office of one of the 15 universities nationwide as soon as they arrive in Korea. It can be recharged with cash at CU Convenience Store (CU), and can also be registered as a payment method on Toss for online use, as well as at offline merchants.
Toss has focused on the financial gap that international students often face when beginning life in Korea. In many cases, foreign students need time to obtain an alien registration card and open a bank account, which makes it difficult to access financial services right after arrival. Through the prepaid card, Toss aims to reduce that gap until an account is opened and help students make necessary payments.
Meanwhile, Toss continues to reflect the voices of foreign users in its services. It is also running the Toss Foreigner Bridge Crew, a program in which international students in Korea directly propose and carry out service and marketing ideas. The second cohort is currently underway, and Toss plans to build a community so participants can keep exchanging ideas and making suggestions even after the program ends, continuing communication with foreign users.
