Five Gyeongbuk Road Construction Projects Pass Final Feasibility Review

[Financial News, Andong = Kim Jang-wook] Five road projects in Gyeongbuk have passed the bundled preliminary feasibility review, earning recognition as key transportation projects at the national level.
According to the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government, five projects in the region have passed the bundled preliminary feasibility review for projects worth at least 50 billion won that will be included in the 6th Five-Year National and Local Road Construction Plan (2026-2030).
The five Gyeongbuk projects that passed the review cover a total of 35.9 kilometers and are valued at 574.9 billion won. They include two new construction projects and three road improvement projects.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, "Passing the bundled feasibility review for national and local road projects is a highly meaningful achievement because long-standing local demands have been recognized as key transportation projects at the national level." He added, "We will work closely with the National Assembly and the central government to ensure the projects proceed without setbacks, and we will do our utmost to help expand the national arterial road network and build links with the wider transportation network so that construction can begin and be completed as soon as possible."
The new construction projects are Dalseong Nongong-Habin and Ulleung Sadong-Dodong. The Dalseong Nongong-Habin project is a two-lane new road project on Nationally Supported Local Route No. 67, connecting Nongong-eup in Dalseong County, passing through Dasan-myeon in Goryeong County, and linking to Habin-myeon in Dalseong County. It is intended to expand the Daegu-Goryeong transportation network and strengthen logistics links with industrial complexes. The project spans 7.6 kilometers and will cost 156.4 billion won.
The Ulleung Sadong-Dodong project will build a bypass road on Ulleung County's circular road to ease bottlenecks and improve safety. It is designed to meet tourism demand ahead of the opening of Ulleung Airport in 2028. The project will add a 2.7-kilometer, two-lane section of Nationally Supported Local Route No. 90, with a total budget of 163.8 billion won.
The road improvement projects are Cheongha-Jukjang in Pohang, Pungcheon-Pungsan in Andong, and Naeseo-Yeonwon in Sangju.
For other projects worth less than 50 billion won, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will select the eligible projects and then finalize them after deliberation and approval by the Road Policy Deliberation Committee in September or October. Basic and detailed design work is expected to begin next year in order of priority for each project.
