NVIDIA to Supply 2 Million AI Chips to Amazon; Jensen Huang Says AI Has Reached an Inflection Point

[Financial News] NVIDIA, which leads the global AI semiconductor market, announced record quarterly results as Amazon placed a massive additional order. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said the AI market has "reached an inflection point."
On the 26th, NVIDIA said in a press release that it will supply an additional 2 million graphics processing units (GPUs) for AI workloads to Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon's cloud services subsidiary. The company said it is "significantly expanding its strategic collaboration to meet surging global demand for AI infrastructure."
Earlier, Amazon said it would install 1 million NVIDIA chips in AWS data centers starting this year. The latest supply is in addition to that previously announced volume and includes Blackwell Ultra, Rubin, and Rubin Ultra GPUs. NVIDIA did not disclose the value of the deal.
That same day, NVIDIA said revenue for the second quarter of the fiscal year (May to July) rose 106% from a year earlier to $96.22 billion, or about 133.2 trillion won. As a result, the company set a new quarterly revenue record for the 13th consecutive quarter. Revenue from hyperscalers, the large-scale data center operators, more than doubled from $24.2 billion last year to $48.7 billion.
In a statement that day, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said, "AI has now reached an inflection point, and it is doing useful work." Referring to tokens, the data units used in training and inference for AI models, he added, "Tokens are productive and profitable. Compute is now revenue."
Huang said, "Demand is accelerating. At this time last year, only one lab was driving infrastructure buildout, but now we are entering a golden age for new AI labs and startups." He added, "Several frontier labs are scaling up at the same time, the open-model ecosystem is vibrant, and physical AI is also beginning to operate in earnest, creating strong momentum in the United States and around the world."
He also referred to NVIDIA's latest AI GPU, Vera Rubin, and emphasized, "AI infrastructure buildout is now moving at full speed. Vera Rubin, which has now entered full-scale production, was built to support this very moment."
