Anthropic Signs 6.2 Trillion Won AIDC Deal, Moves to Secure Long-Term AI Infrastructure [Global AI Briefing]

[Financial News] Anthropic has signed a six-year lease for a 460-megawatt AI Data Center (AIDC), spending $45 billion, or about 62 trillion won.
So far this year alone, Anthropic has poured about $315 billion, or roughly 436 trillion won, into securing more than 6 gigawatts (GW) of AI infrastructure. The company is seen as aggressively locking in long-term capacity through contracts lasting six to 10 years, in preparation for the rapid expansion of AI.
According to a report by the Financial Times on the 26th local time, Anthropic signed a six-year, $45 billion deal with British AI cloud company Nscale.

At the AIDC that Nscale is building in Mason County, West Virginia, Anthropic will use about 460MW of computing capacity. The facility will be equipped with NVIDIA Corporation's next-generation Rubin processors and is scheduled to begin operations in stages starting late next year. The full Nscale AIDC campus will span 1.35GW. A 2GW natural gas power plant is also planned as part of the project.
The deal is viewed as part of Anthropic's recent push to secure AI infrastructure on a long-term basis.
In April, Anthropic signed a 10-year agreement with Amazon.com, Inc. to spend more than $100 billion, or about 138 trillion won, to secure up to 5GW of computing capacity. In May, it also agreed with SpaceX to pay $45 billion, or about 62 trillion won, for access to roughly 325,000 GPUs over three years.
This latest deal follows a 20-year AIDC lease agreement with TeraWulf and adds another six-year contract with Nscale.
Industry observers say Anthropic is trying to demonstrate that it can reliably meet future demand for AI services by securing long-term, stable AI infrastructure ahead of a potential initial public offering (IPO).
They also note that infrastructure providers are diversifying their computing supply chains by signing deals not only with major U.S. tech companies, but also with operators in countries such as Norway and Australia, which is helping improve stability.
