Jeju to See 33 C Despite Rain, With Tropical Nights and 5-Meter Swells in the Southern Sea

[Financial News, Jeju = Reporter Jung Yong-bok] Even with rain, Jeju will continue to experience humid heat, with daytime temperatures climbing to 33 C and tropical nights persisting. In the waters south of Jeju, waves could reach as high as 5 meters, requiring safety measures on both land and sea.
According to the Jeju Provincial Meteorological Administration on the 27th, the island will be mostly cloudy, with occasional rain mainly in the mountains and on the southern and eastern slopes of Hallasan.
Expected rainfall is 5 to 30 mm today. Jeju Province is forecast to receive 5 to 40 mm on the 28th and 10 to 40 mm on the 29th. Rain is also expected to continue in some areas on the 30th.
By area, rain or passing showers are forecast in Jeju City, Seogwipo City, Seongsan, and Gosan-ri both in the morning and afternoon. Chujado Islands will be mostly clear today, but the chance of rain will increase from the 28th.
The rain is not expected to ease the heat. Daytime highs in Jeju Province will range from 31 to 33 C, above the seasonal average of 28.5 to 29.4 C. The previous day, local highs also rose to between 32.3 and 35.4 C.
As of 3:50 a.m. on the 27th, a heat wave warning remained in effect for northern Jeju City. Heat wave advisories were issued for western and eastern Jeju City, as well as western, southern, eastern, and mid-mountain areas of Seogwipo City.
Tropical night advisories are also in effect for western, northern, and eastern Jeju City, along with western, southern, and eastern Seogwipo City. Even during rain, high humidity may keep the perceived heat high, so caution is needed for outdoor activities and health management.
Daytime highs are also expected to reach 31 to 33 C on the 28th and around 31 C on the 29th. Morning lows will remain high at 27 C on the 28th and 26 to 27 C on the 29th, making it likely that the nighttime heat will continue for the time being.
Sea conditions are even rougher. A storm warning is in effect for the far southern waters and the southeastern inner waters of Jeju. Storm advisories have been issued for the eastern, southern, and western coastal waters of Jeju, as well as the southwestern inner waters.
In the far southern waters and the southeastern inner waters, winds will blow strongly at 10 to 20 meters per second, with waves rising to 2 to 5 meters.
Waves in the southern coastal waters of Jeju are also expected to reach up to 4 meters, while the eastern and western coastal waters could see waves as high as 3.5 meters. The northern coastal waters are forecast to see waves of 1 to 2.5 meters.
The high waves are expected to continue through the 28th before gradually easing from the 29th. The meteorological agency also urged caution against swell-driven waves along the coast.
