Doosan Enerbility dispatches emergency response team, including CEO Jung Yeon-in, to flood-hit site in Nepal

[Financial News] Doosan Enerbility has dispatched an emergency response team led by CEO Jung Yeon-in to Nepal after a massive flood at a hydropower construction site left five Korean employees out of contact. Of the 15 Korean workers who were at the site when the accident occurred, the whereabouts of five remain unknown, prompting top executives to travel there in person and direct search and rescue efforts. The company immediately set up an emergency headquarters at its Seoul office, established a hotline with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and local authorities, and is concentrating all company resources on ensuring the safety of the missing employees and handling the aftermath.
According to Doosan Enerbility on the 26th, a massive flood struck the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project site in Rasuwa District, Nepal, at around 9:30 a.m. local time after torrential rain hit the area, causing flooding damage to the construction site.
A total of 20 Korean employees from Doosan Enerbility are registered at the site. Of the 15 people who were there when the disaster struck, five have not been reached so far, and the company is monitoring the situation in real time. The remaining 10 on-site workers and five employees working off-site have been confirmed safe.
Given the severity of the situation, Doosan Enerbility urgently sent an emergency response team, including CEO Jung Yeon-in, to Nepal. Once he arrives at the site, Jung will personally oversee the search and rescue operation and coordinate swift decision-making with Nepali government authorities and the project owner to help stabilize the situation.
The Upper Trishuli-1 project in Nepal is a 216-megawatt hydropower plant being built along the Trishuli River in Rasuwa District, about 70 kilometers north of Kathmandu. Doosan Enerbility has been carrying out the work as the EPC contractor responsible for design, procurement and construction.
A Doosan Enerbility official said, "Through the emergency headquarters, we are working closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local authorities and project stakeholders, and are committing all necessary resources to support the search and rescue of the missing workers." The official added, "We will devote every possible effort to ensure that the employees who remain out of contact can return safely to their families as soon as possible."
