Eight Employees of Doosan and Korea South-East Power Lose Contact in Nepal Floods; 10 More Doosan Workers Stranded

[Financial News] Eight South Korean nationals from Korea South-East Power and Doosan Enerbility, who were building a hydropower plant in Nepal's Rasuwa District, have lost contact after flooding in the area.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on the 26th that the Nepalese government had dispatched a rescue team made up of the army and police to the affected area and was carrying out search and rescue operations.
In addition, 10 other South Korean nationals from Doosan Enerbility are stranded locally and waiting to be rescued. The Nepalese government has sent helicopters to rescue them.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Nepal notified the Nepalese government immediately after learning of the incident that contact had been lost with the eight South Korean nationals, and requested a swift and active search and rescue effort. It also sent a consul to the scene.
President Lee Jae-myung ordered an all-out response to ensure the safety of South Korean nationals. The government set up an Overseas Nationals Protection Task Force headed by Foreign Minister Cho Hyun. Accordingly, a government joint rapid response team made up of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Fire Agency (NFA), and the National Police Agency will be dispatched to the site as quickly as possible.
