President Lee: "Only Five Comfort Women Victims Remain... We Must Remember the Truth of History"

[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung said on the 26th that only five survivors of Japan's military comfort women remain, stressing that "protecting their dignity and remembering the truth of history is a responsibility we all share."
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, titled "Please join us in the courage to remember history," Lee said this while sharing news that the film Spirits' Homecoming, which was released 10 years ago, is returning to theaters.
Lee said, "The film Spirits' Homecoming, which moved countless viewers 10 years ago, is returning to us once again." He added, "Now, only five grandmothers who were victims of Japan's military comfort women system are still alive."
He went on to emphasize, "If citizens' interest and solidarity come together to remember the truth and face the pain of history, the resonance will never be small."
He also urged, "I hope more people will join us so that we can remember the pain of history together and continue their testimony."
The film Spirits' Homecoming tells the stories of victims of Japan's military comfort women system. It was produced with support from citizens and was released in 2016.
