[Financial News] Hanyang University’s Hanyang IDEA Center and the Korea Association for Institutional Research (KAIR) said on the 26th that they held the "2026 KAIR Summer Forum" on the 20th at Baeknam Music Hall and the Second Engineering Building on Hanyang University’s Seoul Campus. The forum, held under the theme "Data Governance for Sustainable Higher Education Innovation," drew about 450 participants from universities and higher education institutions nationwide.
At the forum, the main topic was how universities can use the various data they hold for education and campus management. Sessions covered the role of IR in the AI era, data-driven university innovation, performance management, admissions data analysis, and examples of integrated IR data use.
In his congratulatory remarks, Hanyang University President Lee Ki-jeong said, "The role of university IR is not to collect data, but to help universities ask the most honest questions of themselves." He added, "University autonomy becomes stronger when it rests on the responsibility to explain itself," and emphasized that "IR is a bridge that connects universities and society through trust."
During the morning presentations, Professor Kim Tae-yong of Kyung Hee University (KHU) discussed the threats and opportunities facing university education and IR in the AI era. Professor Bae Eun-ok of Hanyang University outlined the direction and tasks of data-driven university innovation based on the National AI Strategy, while Research Fellow Kim Song-nyeon of KIET explained the future direction of regional higher education.
In the afternoon, four breakout sessions were held on △ strategies and infrastructure for building university IR systems △ development of university performance indicators and performance management △ predictive analysis and enrollment management based on admissions data △ research analysis and feedback based on integrated IR data. IR experts from universities and related institutions shared real-world examples of data building and analysis, and discussed ways to apply them to university operations and performance management.
Jo Eun-woo, deputy head of the Hanyang IDEA Center, presented plans for building and using integrated IR data. Professor Jo Eun-won of Hanyang University explained the LIONS College performance management system that links internal and external data. Researcher Lee Seung-hyun of the Hanyang IDEA Center presented factors that predict international students’ academic achievement, while Senior Research Engineer Lim Hee-young outlined ways to expand the scope of IR analysis through a staff workplace experience survey.
