[Financial News] Inje Univ. Busan Paik Hospital, led by President Yang Jae-wook, has opened a permanent exhibition hall for thynC, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based bedside monitoring system, for inpatients and their guardians.
On the 26th, Busan Paik Hospital said it opened the thynC permanent exhibition hall in the first-floor patient and guardian lounge of Imjae Hall, with officials from Daewoong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Seers in attendance, and made it available to visitors.
Visitors are expected to better understand and feel more satisfied with the system, as they can see the wearable medical device used during hospitalization firsthand.
In May, Busan Paik Hospital became the first tertiary general hospital in the Busan, Ulsan Metropolitan City, and South Gyeongsang Province region to introduce the AI-based patient monitoring system thynC and build a smart ward.
The system is currently being used across all departments in a total of 58 beds, including the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Division of Cardiology, and Neurosurgery, where close observation is required. In the second half of the year, the hospital plans to expand it to 14 wards and 113 beds, and is preparing for a transition to a smart hospital through phased expansion.
thynC is a smart bedside monitoring system that uses wearable medical devices and artificial intelligence to observe inpatients' vital signs in real time. When a patient wears the device, key vital signs such as electrocardiogram (ECG), oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, and pulse rate are measured continuously. Medical staff can check the patient's condition at a glance through a central monitoring system. The system helps detect abnormal signs early and supports a rapid response from medical staff. In one case, a patient in their 60s with no history of heart disease saw their heart rate suddenly rise to 160 beats per minute, and arrhythmia and tachycardia were detected. Emergency tests later found signs of atrial fibrillation, and medication was administered, allowing the hospital to respond quickly to the warning sign.
