According to police and fire officials on the 26th, a report was filed at 12:44 p.m. that the court's security team had received a threatening email saying it would "blow up the Seoul Eastern District Court and the surrounding area."
Fire authorities dispatched 26 personnel and seven vehicles and responded at the scene until 1:55 p.m. A search of the court building found no unusual signs, including any objects suspected to be explosives.
Police are examining whether the email is linked to related crimes, based on signs that the address overlaps with one previously used in criminal activity. Once the related materials are organized, the case will be handed over to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Cyber Crime Investigation Unit.
Meanwhile, similar reports of bomb threat emails were also filed at other regional courts, including the Cheongju District Court and the Jeonju District Court, prompting searches by the relevant authorities.
