Daegu–Uiseong Metropolitan Rail Line Clears Feasibility Review... 25-Minute Link to New Airport

[Financial News] The Daegu–Gyeongbuk metropolitan rail construction project, which will connect Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province into a single living area and improve access to Daegu–Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport, has passed the preliminary feasibility study.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 26th that the Daegu–Gyeongbuk metropolitan rail construction project had passed the preliminary feasibility study.
The project calls for a total investment of 3.1813 trillion won to build a 64.97-km double-track rail line from Seodaegu Station to Uiseong station on the Jungang Line.
The Daegu–Gyeongbuk metropolitan rail line is a key regional transport network designed to improve access to Daegu–Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport and connect Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province into a single living area.
The project was included in the Fourth National Rail Network Construction Plan in July 2021 and was selected as a leading regional metropolitan rail project in August that same year. It then entered the preliminary feasibility study in June last year and has now secured economic viability.
Once completed, travel time from Seodaegu Station to Daegu–Gyeongbuk Integrated New Airport is expected to fall from 62 minutes by car to 25 minutes by metropolitan rail.
MOLIT expects the line to become a key transport link that connects Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province within a one-hour living area, helping to create a wider economic zone and promote balanced national development.
Kim Tae-byeong, director of the ministry's rail bureau, said, "We will move quickly with follow-up procedures, including the master plan, feasibility assessment, and basic and detailed design."
