Booyoung Group's Woojung Education and Culture Foundation awards scholarships to foreign students in Korea... cumulative total reaches 11.6 billion won

[Financial News] Lee Joongkeun, chairman of Booyoung Group and head of the Woojung Education and Culture Foundation, has awarded scholarships to foreign students studying at universities in Korea.
According to Booyoung Group on the 26th, Lee distributed about 400 million won in scholarships to 98 foreign students from 32 countries at the '2026 Second Semester Scholarship Award Ceremony for Foreign Students' held that day at KCCI in Jung District, Seoul. With this latest round of awards, the Woojung Education and Culture Foundation has now provided 11.6 billion won in scholarships to 2,945 students from 46 countries.
The Woojung Education and Culture Foundation was established in 2008 with Lee's personal funds to support educational scholarships. Since 2010, it has awarded scholarships twice a year to foreign students enrolled at universities in Korea. In 2013, the foundation significantly expanded the number of eligible countries and recipients, and increased the annual scholarship amount to 8 million won per student.
Lee said, "I applaud your passion as you pursue your dreams in an unfamiliar environment, and I hope this scholarship will serve as a strong foundation for your future." He added, "Today, the Republic of Korea has grown into one of the world's top 10 economies, and we should commemorate United Nations Day as a national holiday to repay the international community for its support during times of crisis and to improve diplomatic ties for future generations."
United Nations Day marks Oct. 24, 1945, the date the United Nations (UN) was founded. South Korea observed it as a legal holiday from 1950 to 1975, but abolished the holiday in 1976 in protest after North Korea officially joined several UN-affiliated organizations.
