1,103 Foreign Talents Nurtured in Korea Graduate, with Jobs at Samsung Electronics and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries

[Financial News] Among government-sponsored international scholarship recipients, some have landed jobs at major Korean companies such as Samsung Electronics and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, while others are continuing research at domestic universities.
According to the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) on the 26th, 1,103 students from 124 countries completed their scholarship period this August through the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS). By degree, 947 earned master's degrees, 110 earned doctorates, and 46 earned bachelor's or associate degrees.
This year's graduates included people who chose a range of career paths, including jobs at Korean companies, research positions at universities, and lecturer offers from universities in their home countries. Zahira Dana Rani of Indonesia, who earned a master's degree in industrial and systems engineering at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), is set to join Samsung Electronics Device Solutions Division. Mengmai Basawan of Thailand, who completed a master's degree in Korean language and literature at Kyung Hee University (KHU), is expected to join HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. Fikri Octavia of Indonesia, who earned a doctorate in biological science and biotechnology at Chonnam National University (CNU), will be hired as a postdoctoral researcher at CNU. Prismasari Septika of Indonesia, who completed a doctoral program in dental hygiene at Yonsei University, has received a lecturer offer from a prestigious university in her home country.
GKS is the government's flagship scholarship program that selects outstanding talent from around the world and supports them with tuition, airfare, Korean language training, and stipends to help them earn degrees in Korea. Since 1967, the program has supported 21,406 students from 161 countries through this year.
The Ministry of Education and NIIED will hold a graduation celebration on the 27th at NIIED in Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, with about 170 graduates expected to attend. The government plans to continue its ties with alumni by building a network and an archive.
