Woman in Her 30s Who Used Macro Program to Buy and Resell BTS Concert Tickets Faces Charges; Criminal Proceeds Total 442 Million Won

[Financial News] A woman in her 30s who illegally booked about 2,600 BTS concert tickets using a macro program and then resold them has been handed over to prosecutors.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Cyber Investigation Unit said on the 26th that it had sent the woman, identified as A, to prosecutors without detention on the 21st on charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, obstruction of business, and violating the Public Performance Act.
A is accused of using a macro program on Feb. 23 to illegally reserve nine tickets for the BTS concert held in Gwanghwamun on March 21 through accounts under the names of family members and acquaintances. Investigators also found that from April 2023 to March this year, she used macro programs and other methods to illegally buy about 2,600 concert tickets and resell them.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency applied for pre-indictment confiscation and collection preservation measures for A's criminal proceeds, worth about 442 million won.
A police official said, "We will continue to investigate illegal ticket purchases and distribution activities strictly."
