POSCO DX Supports Teen AI Developers' Dreams Through the '2026 AI Youth Challenge'

[Financial News] The nation's largest youth artificial intelligence competition, the '2026 AI Youth Challenge,' has produced a range of outstanding AI solutions from young participants.
According to POSCO DX on the 26th, the '2026 AI Youth Challenge,' now in its seventh year, was hosted by POSCO DX and sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and the Korea Artificial Intelligence and Software Industry Association. Held under the theme of 'AI solutions that improve inconveniences in daily life and industrial settings,' the contest drew 215 teams, or 524 participants, who submitted AI ideas across fields including the environment, safety, education, and industry.
After two rounds of judging, six teams advanced to the final. During the summer vacation, the finalists received intensive mentoring from a team of engineers at POSCO DX's AX Convergence Research Institute and researchers from Seoul National University AI Institute. They improved their prototypes by refining data analysis techniques, implementing AI models, and defining service models.
The completed projects were judged through prototype demonstrations and presentations at an event held on the 25th at POSCO DX's headquarters, where the winning teams were selected. The Ministry of Education award, the grand prize, went to Team VtoB, consisting of students Shin Jae-yoon and Oh Eun, for developing a system that creates Braille learning aids for math lectures. The POSCO DX president's award went to Team Ddo-Byeoruk, made up of students Song Ye-seo and Oh Ji-su, for a water-quality monitoring system based on daphnia movement analysis. The Korea Artificial Intelligence and Software Industry Association chairman's award was given to Team Nasa-ga Namneunde, consisting of students Byun Seung-joo, Kim Tae-hwan, and Yoo Ji-woong, for a precision airdrop system for relief supplies based on reinforcement learning.
The competition is seen as a meaningful program because it allows students to experience the full process of a practical AI project alongside industry experts and grow into AI talent.
Meanwhile, POSCO DX continues to support the development of young participants' ideas into actual intellectual property. Among last year's winning teams, the company supported patent applications for ideas with strong technical differentiation and commercialization potential, and patent filings have now been completed for three teams, including the 'Intelligent Lighting Robotic Arm System for Precision Work.' POSCO DX plans to further expand its support for the AI capabilities of future generations.
