Participants in the fitness test can receive 1,000 "Wrist Doctor 9988" points and a souvenir. The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 26th that it will operate the "Regular Mobile Seoul Fitness Center" on the first floor of Seoul City Hall from September 5 to December 20.
The Mobile Seoul Fitness Center operates from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays and Sundays of each month. Physical fitness testing programs tailored to specific target groups—including children, adults, and seniors—are scheduled to operate sequentially on September 5th and 6th, followed by October and November.
The pop-up fitness center, which received a great response during the Lunar New Year holiday, will also reopen for Chuseok. During the last Lunar New Year, interest from family visitors was high, with 2,883 people participating in the fitness testing over three days.
For this Chuseok holiday, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has prepared fitness testing and physical activity programs that the whole family can enjoy together, running from September 25th to 27th. The Chuseok pop-up fitness center will offer a variety of programs that families of all ages can participate in together, including muscular endurance (hanging from a pull-up bar), flexibility (sit-and-forward bending), agility (reaction speed with a parachute), and balance (balance pad).
The Seoul Fitness Center is not merely a public gym, but a public health management service that measures citizens' physical fitness and prescribes exercises based on the results. You can objectively check the level of your muscle strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, and flexibility.
During the first week of every month, the "Visiting Seoul Fitness Center" measures muscle strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, and flexibility for adults and seniors. Seniors also undergo the Senior Physical Function Assessment (SPPB), which comprehensively evaluates balance, gait, and lower limb muscle function.
During the third week, basic physical fitness for growing children, such as muscle strength, agility, and power, is measured. Citizens who find it difficult to measure all categories due to health conditions can select only the items they can, and 1,000 points will be awarded accordingly.
Cho Young-chang, Director General of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Citizen Health Bureau, stated, "Health management is not about focusing only on special moments, but is about checking one's condition in daily life and practicing consistently. " He added, "We prepared this event so that citizens visiting City Hall can measure their physical fitness and check their health status without any burden, and we hope they will take advantage of this opportunity to check their health together with their families.
