The two models are the flagship P9 for professionals and the P7 for general users. Samsung Electronics said the products are optimized for environments where data volumes are surging, including high-resolution video, AI content and large-scale games. Based on the USB4 interface, the flagship P9 supports industry-leading transfer speeds of up to 4,000MB per second for sequential reads and 3,800MB per second for sequential writes. Compared with the previous-generation T series, including the Samsung Portable SSD T9 and T7, sequential read and write speeds are about twice as fast. It is also the world's first 8TB USB4 product to support 4,000MB per second.
The P9 supports 12K direct recording on professional shooting sets, allowing large RAW image files and ultra-high-resolution video to be stored and edited smoothly and reliably. The P7 is also a storage solution based on next-generation USB4 technology that is easy and convenient for anyone to use in work, entertainment and everyday life. It has also passed a 2-meter drop test and durability tests for shock and vibration.
Kwon Hyung-seok, Managing Director of Samsung Electronics' Memory Business Division, said, "The Portable SSD P series supports fast file storage and backup, and will provide the best work environment for professionals as well as a wide range of everyday users."
