Refresh rate refers to the number of times a screen is updated per second. A 1000Hz display can show up to 1,000 frames per second. The higher the refresh rate, the smoother the screen transitions.
LG Electronics said the product is designed to meet gamers' expectations. Existing dual-mode 1000Hz monitors have faced a trade-off: choosing the highest refresh rate for smoother motion often meant lowering screen size or resolution. The new LG UltraGear 25G590B maximizes both resolution and refresh rate, the company said. An LG Electronics official explained, "It is a product that meets the expectations of gamers who want both an ultra-high refresh rate and a sharp display," adding, "It clearly renders fine details of characters, backgrounds, and objects even in games with rapid screen transitions."
LG Electronics also equipped the new model with an In-plane switching (IPS) panel, which offers wide viewing angles and strong color reproduction. It also added Motion Blur Reduction Pro technology, which minimizes afterimages on the screen so fast-moving objects can be tracked more clearly and easily.
According to International Data Corporation (IDC), the global gaming monitor market is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 6.4% through 2030. Over the same period, the domestic market is projected to expand by about 15%. LG UltraGear currently holds the No. 1 market share in South Korea's gaming monitor market as of the first quarter of 2026.
