HLB Therapeutics Completes Final Patient Visit in Global Phase 3 Trial of RGN-259

HLB Therapeutics said on the 26th that it had completed the last patient visit (LPLV) in SEER-2, the global Phase 3 trial of RGN-259.
LPLV is the process of completing post-dose adverse event and safety evaluations for the final patient. With this step finished, the patient-facing clinical work is effectively complete, and the trial is now moving into data cleaning and statistical analysis.
SEER-2 is a clinical trial designed to evaluate the corneal wound-healing effects and safety of RGN-259 in patients with neurotrophic keratitis. It was conducted at 50 medical institutions in total, including 41 hospitals in the United States and nine hospitals across three European countries: Italy, Spain, and Poland.
ReGenTree, LLC is currently collecting and organizing data from each clinical site, and aims to release top-line results in November.
RGN-259 is a drug candidate in eye-drop form whose main ingredient is Thymosin beta 4, a protein that promotes tissue regeneration. It is being developed as a treatment for neurotrophic keratitis based on its ability to promote corneal wound healing and nerve regeneration.
Neurotrophic keratitis is a rare eye disease in which damage to the corneal nerves reduces sensation and the eye's natural healing ability. As the condition progresses, it can lead to corneal ulcers, perforation, and vision loss, making it a disease with strong demand for new treatments.
An HLB Therapeutics official said, "With the completion of LPLV, we have finished all patient-related clinical procedures for SEER-2 and entered the final stage for producing results." The official added, "We will move forward with the remaining data cleaning and analysis without delay so that we can quickly confirm the top-line results."
