[Financial News] A dispute over building maintenance fees has escalated into controversy after a gym owner in his 20s allegedly sprayed pesticide at a building manager in his 60s and threatened him.
Child posts video saying, "He occupied the management office and terrorized my father"
On the 24th, a post appeared on the online community Bobaedream under the title, "Hello. I am tearfully reporting the horrific pesticide attack my father suffered."
The writer, identified as A, said, "My father works as the manager of a commercial building," and added, "For nearly two years, people who had long overdue maintenance fees have been harassing him persistently by calling in the early hours of the morning."
He claimed, "On the night of August 20, a terrible incident unfolded. A group stormed into the management office, forcibly took over the cramped room, surrounded my father, and carried out a brutal attack," and released a video showing the scene.
The video shows a man holding and spraying pesticide while threatening A's father with remarks such as, "Open your mouth," "Say ah," and "I'll spray it in your mouth," along with abusive language.
A said, "The attackers' behavior in the video is so vicious that it is hard to watch," and added, "They repeatedly sprayed pesticide, a chemical substance, directly at my father's face."
He continued, "They also showed off their power and even ripped out the management office's PC," adding, "This was not a simple scuffle or argument, but a clear case of aggravated assault and a heinous crime in which they sprayed potentially dangerous pesticide at the face of a defenseless man, covered his mouth, and threatened his life."
He then appealed, "Please help expose these vicious attackers to society and ensure they receive the punishment they deserve under the law."
The video spread widely online and sparked controversy.
"Years of maintenance-fee conflict, manager used abusive language" - rebuttal
As the controversy grew, B, the gym owner who sprayed the pesticide, also stated his position directly.
Speaking to JTBC's Scandal Supervisor, B said, "We have been in deep conflict with the management company over maintenance fees for several years," and explained, "The building management company engaged in business interference."
He added, "We asked for a detailed breakdown because the maintenance fees were too high, but we never received one," and claimed, "In that situation, the management company cut off the electricity, saying we had failed to pay an absurd amount, and the damage was significant, with people on treadmills falling over." He went on to say, "We had hoped a new management company would come in and solve these problems, but the conflict only deepened, and that is when the incident in the video happened."
B claimed that the managers provoked him by insulting his parents because of his age, kicking his legs, and using abusive language. He also said he was so frustrated and enraged that, although he knew he should not have done it, he shouted in anger.
Filed with police as a 'mutual assault' case
A's father told Scandal Supervisor, "He says he is 28, but I am 68. To put it bluntly, he is not even old enough to be my son. He looks like an athlete just from his build, so of course he was frightening," adding, "I called the police then and wrote my statement. This cannot be mutual assault. How could we have pushed him or done anything like that? It makes no sense."
Meanwhile, the case was filed as mutual assault, and it is reported that several civil and criminal cases related to the incident are also under way.
