LG Uplus Sets a Global Standard for Wired Subscriber Network Automation

[Financial News] LG Uplus has established a global standard needed for telecommunications operators around the world to use autonomous technologies for detecting and quickly restoring failures in wired subscriber networks, including the internet and Wi-Fi.    
Until now, there had been no objective standard for autonomous technologies that can independently handle fault detection and recovery at the wired subscriber network level. As a result, each telecom company had to build its own automation process one by one, and equipment makers also faced difficulties in developing standardized solutions. This standard helps resolve those issues. 
On the 26th, LG Uplus said it had proposed the development of a self-operating network (AN) maturity assessment table in the subscriber network fault management area at TM Forum, a global telecommunications industry consortium, and had led the drafting process. The proposal was approved through the forum's official procedures.
As a result, it is expected to serve as the AN level certification standard for wired telecommunications subscriber networks worldwide.
TM Forum is a global consortium in which telecom operators and equipment manufacturers around the world participate to develop industry standards and evaluation systems. 
A wired subscriber network is a telecommunications network that acts as a nerve system, directly connecting homes to services such as the internet, Internet Protocol television (IPTV), and Wi-Fi.
Telecom companies have continuously raised the level of automation in subscriber networks to prevent outages in advance and shorten recovery times, but there had been no official standard to objectively assess those capabilities.
Because of this, there were limits to comparing operators' performance levels or verifying them against global standards.
With the assessment table now in place, global telecom companies can diagnose and compare the level of subscriber network autonomy under the same criteria. Based on the results, they can also identify areas that need improvement and establish self-operating network strategies.
Equipment manufacturers will also be able to set development directions for solutions that match telecom operators' requirements.
In this way, the assessment table established by LG Uplus is expected to serve as a benchmark for the global telecom industry to systematically verify and advance subscriber network operations capabilities.
