[Financial News] Following Digital X Co., the operator of Korbit, Coinone will also implement a zero trading fee policy. Upbit is likewise temporarily waiving stablecoin trading fees, signaling a broader race to cut fees among won-based virtual asset exchanges, or KRW markets.
According to the industry on the 26th, Coinone will set trading fees for all listed assets at 0% from 11 a.m. that day until further notice. Users who receive a voucher on Coinone's website or mobile app can trade all assets without fees. The voucher benefit lasts for 30 days and can be reissued without any separate eligibility requirements or usage limits.
Dunamu Inc., the operator of Upbit, is also running a promotional event that waives stablecoin trading fees in the KRW market. Digital X Co. has also decided to exempt trading fees for all assets in Korbit's KRW market for one year starting on the 24th.
In the virtual asset industry, eliminating trading fees can help exchanges quickly attract trading volume and users. However, there are also concerns that it could increase pressure on profitability, since trading fees are a major source of revenue for exchanges.
An industry source said, "Whether exchanges can retain the trading volume and users they attract even after their zero-fee policies end will determine the real outcome of the fee competition."
