【Financial News, Chuncheon = Reporter Kim Gi-seop】 Ten small and medium-sized companies from Gangwon State are heading to Ho Chi Minh City to directly target Vietnam's growing market.
According to Gangwon Technopark on the 26th, a delegation visiting the Vietnamese market to help local SMEs expand into Vietnam will travel to Ho Chi Minh City through the 29th. The delegation will take part in the 2026 Korea-Vietnam Mega Earth Expo, which runs from the 27th to the 29th at White Palace in Ho Chi Minh City, and will also hold an export consultation session for Gangwon companies.
The delegation consists of Gangwon Technopark, the KNU Startup Innovation Institute, the Kangwon National University Anchor Project Team, and Kangwon National University Technology Holdings. Ten companies from the province in the fields of information and communications technology, artificial intelligence, cosmetics and beauty devices, food, and materials will join the trip. The schedule begins on the 25th with an on-site inspection of the export consultation session, followed by a review of the exhibition hall, a meeting with participating organizations, the expo opening ceremony, buyer consultations, export meetings, business agreements, a consumer sales event, and exchange programs.
In particular, a one-on-one export consultation session between Gangwon companies and local buyers will be held on the 28th at Eastin Grand Hotel Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City. Individual meetings will be arranged around buyers matched in advance based on the participating companies' products and local demand. On the same day, a business agreement will also be signed between support organizations in Gangwon and Vietnam.
During the local schedule, Gangwon Technopark will support the participating companies' exhibitions and consultations, while also discussing possible cooperation with Vietnamese institutions and local firms. It also plans to use its findings on local industry and consumer trends, as well as buyer demand, to support future overseas market expansion. After the consultation session, it will continue helping the companies and buyers follow up so the talks can lead to actual export contracts.
Choi Gap-yong, head of Gangwon Technopark's Corporate Support Team, said, "We will make this face-to-face consultation with local buyers a stepping stone for companies in the province to open the door to the Vietnamese market," adding, "We will focus our efforts on on-site support, from the exhibition to the consultations."
