[Financial News] Cheong Kwan Jang's blood sugar-focused brand, 'GLPro,' is accelerating its push into global markets after confirming growth potential in overseas markets such as Malaysia.
According to Cheong Kwan Jang on the 26th, the initial shipment of 'GLPro Core,' launched in Malaysia earlier this year, sold out. Monthly export results have also continued to rise, with recent figures up as much as 90% from the previous month.
The main ingredient in GLPro, 'KGC05pg,' is a functionally recognized ingredient extracted from Cheong Kwan Jang red ginseng. A 12-week human clinical trial showed significant improvements in six blood sugar indicators, including fasting blood glucose, postprandial blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, and GLP-1. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety recognized its functional benefits.
GLPro sold 3,100 sets within five days of its domestic launch and 10,000 sets within 15 days. Cumulative sales have since surpassed 20 billion won, establishing it as Cheong Kwan Jang's next-generation brand.
Its early success in Malaysia is being credited to a localized marketing strategy. Malaysia has a food culture centered on rice and a high prevalence of adult diabetes, making it a market with strong interest in blood sugar management. Taking these conditions into account, Cheong Kwan Jang promoted blood sugar control together with weight management, while linking local influencer campaigns with social commerce designed to drive purchases.
Cheong Kwan Jang is also pursuing Halal Certification to target the Muslim consumer segment, which is a major part of Malaysia's market beyond the ethnic Chinese community.
The company also plans to launch GLPro in Indonesia and step up its market expansion there.
A Cheong Kwan Jang official said, "We will continue to strengthen GLPro's competitiveness in the global blood sugar management market through market-specific strategies that reflect each country's consumer characteristics and health concerns."
