Nongshim buys 490 tons of fresh Wando kelp to preserve the taste of Neoguri, continuing 45 years of shared growth

[Financial News] Nongshim has continued its 45-year partnership with fishermen in Wando County, South Jeolla Province.
According to Nongshim on the 26th, the company recently purchased 490 tons of fresh kelp from Wando County, South Jeolla Province, for use in Neoguri production. The partnership with Wando fishermen has continued for 45 years since Neoguri was launched in 1982.
When Neoguri was introduced in 1982, Nongshim decided to use whole Wando kelp to recreate the rich flavor of seafood udon. Since then, it has steadily purchased kelp from Wando every year. Including this year's 490 tons, cumulative purchases have reached about 18,500 tons.
Wando County, South Jeolla Province, is a leading kelp-producing region with ideal conditions such as ample sunlight and strong winds. As of 2025, it accounts for 66% of the nation's total kelp production.
A Nongshim official said, "Wando kelp is a key ingredient that has long helped perfect the taste of Neoguri," adding, "We will continue our relationship of mutual growth as a partner that grows together with the Wando community."
