Genesis Sponsors Do Ho Suh Solo Exhibition at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea

[Financial News] Genesis announced on the 26th that it will serve as a major sponsor of Do Ho Suh's solo exhibition at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, which runs from Aug. 27 to Feb. 9 next year.
The exhibition is a large-scale solo show that offers a comprehensive look at the artistic world of the globally renowned contemporary artist. It features more than 500 works, including drawings, sculptures, videos and installations. Spanning unpublished early works to ongoing projects, it provides an in-depth view of the artist's exploration of the relationships among architecture, space, the body and memory, as well as themes such as home and movement, memory and identity, and the individual and the community.
Key works include the "Rubbing/Loving Project" series, in which the artist wrapped spaces he once inhabited in hanji paper and made rubbings with graphite and colored pencils; "Bridge Project," which expands questions about home into issues of coexistence with society and the environment; and "Who Am We?" (2000) and "Floor" (1997-2000), which address questions of identity within the relationship between the collective and the individual.
Notably, works that were newly created or reconfigured for the venue with Genesis' support in last year's partnership exhibition at Tate Modern, "The Genesis Exhibition: Do Ho Suh: Walk the House," will be shown to Korean audiences for the first time. Among them are "Nest/s" (2024) and "Perfect Home: London, Horsham, New York, Berlin, Providence, Seoul" (2024), which recreate the living spaces of the cities where the artist has lived as life-size translucent fabric structures. Visitors will be able to walk through the works and experience the artist's reflections on movement and settlement, as well as place and memory.
Also on view will be "Seed Bank," a large structure that gathers the artist's childhood drawings and college graduation works, as well as the new work "Memories of Love" (2025-2026), which captures the relationship between the body, clothing and home. Starting Dec. 18, the large-scale installation "Apartment A, Corridor and Staircase, 348 West 22nd Street, New York, NY 10011" (2012) will also be unveiled in Seoul Box, the MMCA Seoul's large exhibition space.
Following its support for the Tate Modern exhibition, Genesis will continue its artistic engagement with audiences in Korea and abroad through this MMCA exhibition.
A Genesis official said, "It is meaningful to support the Do Ho Suh exhibition, which encourages layered reflection on the origins of life at the intersection of memory and space, the individual and identity." The official added, "We hope it will offer Korean visitors an artistic experience that allows them to see themselves and the world anew within their own narratives and discover values that transcend time and space."

Its global art partnerships include The Genesis Facade Commission, which presents new works by leading artists on the exterior facade of The Met in New York, as well as support for the opening of the new building at LACMA and sponsorship of The Genesis Talk.
