Country Music Queen Dolly Parton Dies at 80

Dolly Parton, known as the queen of American country music, has died at the age of 80, Cable News Network (CNN) and other foreign media reported on the 25th, local time.
Parton won 11 Grammy Awards and was also widely known for her charitable work.

Born in 1946 as one of 12 children in a poor family in Tennessee, the heartland of country music in the United States, Parton was active as a singer-songwriter, record producer, actress, author, and philanthropist. She was admired across political views, generations, and regions.
Parton wrote and composed "I Will Always Love You" in 1974. The song won the Country Music Association (CMA) Female Vocalist of the Year award for two consecutive years starting the following year, and Whitney Houston later remade it in 1992 as the theme song for the film Bodyguard.
In 1980, her title track for the comedy film Nine to Five, which became famous through its soundtrack, and "Islands in the Stream," a duet with country legend Kenny Rogers, also became global hits.
Parton received a total of 11 Grammy Awards, including a lifetime achievement award, and sold more than 100 million records worldwide.
She was also an active philanthropist.
She founded Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, an education nonprofit that sends free books to children in her home state of Tennessee, and also ran literacy programs for preschoolers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Ireland.
She also organized a charity TV broadcast to help victims of wildfires and donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, known as the "Harvard of the South," to support vaccine research during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump said, "I am deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of Parton, one of the greatest country singers of all time," and ordered flags to be flown at half-staff across the United States for one week starting at 6 p.m. that day in her honor.
