According to the legal community on the 25th, Yang Hwan-seung, chief judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Eastern District Court, rejected the arrest warrant for the man, identified only as A, who is accused of assault.
The court said the warrant was denied because it was difficult to determine that he was likely to destroy evidence or flee.
A is accused of assaulting another participant with whom he had been in conflict at around 9:30 p.m. on the 22nd, including grabbing the person's neck and pulling them at the protest site near the handball gymnasium in Songpa District, Seoul. A video showing him holding and dragging the other person also spread on social networking services.
Police arrested A at the scene near the handball gymnasium on the day of the incident.
