Ulsan City and Democratic Party of Korea Hold Policy Consultative Meeting for the First Time in Five Years

【Financial News Ulsan = Reporter Choi Soo-sang】 Ulsan Metropolitan City held a policy consultative meeting with the Democratic Party of Korea’s Ulsan City Party at the city hall situation room on the 25th to discuss ways to resolve major local issues and explain projects aimed at increasing the 2027 national budget.
The meeting was the first since the launch of the 9th popularly elected administration and the first in five years since September 2021, when Song Cheol-ho, then Ulsan mayor from the Democratic Party of Korea, was in office. 
After President Lee Jae-myung took office in June 2025, the Democratic Party of Korea’s Ulsan City Party had asked Mayor Kim Doo-gyum to hold a policy consultative meeting on budget-related issues in its capacity as the ruling party, but the meeting did not take place because the mayor refused.
The meeting was attended by Ulsan Mayor Kim Sang-wook, the deputy mayor, bureau and department heads, Democratic Party of Korea Ulsan City Party chair Kim Tae-seon, and district and county committee chairs from Ulsan’s five districts and counties.
Ulsan Metropolitan City discussed cooperation measures for resolving major local issues, including the Munsu-ro bypass road improvement project, as well as national budget-related projects for 2027, such as the Ulsan-Gyeongsan Expressway project and the construction of the Industrial AX Demonstration Center.
Mayor Kim Sang-wook especially handed Chair Kim Tae-seon a proposal calling for Ulsan to host the second relocation of public institutions and asked for his support.
