Kim Jong Il, Former Director General for Emerging Trade Strategy and Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Nominated as KCCI's Full-time Vice Chairman

[Financial News] The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the 25th that Kim Jong Il, former Director General for Emerging Trade Strategy and Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, has been nominated as its new full-time vice chairman.
KCCI plans to submit the "appointment consent motion for the new full-time vice chairman" at an extraordinary general meeting of members on September 8. If the motion is approved, Kim will officially be appointed as the new full-time vice chairman.
Kim has built extensive experience and expertise in key national industries, including industrial policy, trade, energy and semiconductors, through more than 30 years of work in both government and business.
At the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, he served in posts including director of the Semiconductor and Display Division, Director of Americas Trade Division, director for free trade agreement policy, director for energy innovation policy and Director General for Emerging Trade Strategy and Policy. In those roles, he led efforts to strengthen industrial competitiveness and shape trade policy.
He later served as head of global business policy at SK Square and as vice president in charge of external cooperation at SK hynix. There, he worked to respond to changes in the global trade environment, build cooperation between the government and companies, and strengthen competitiveness in advanced industries.
He is widely regarded as someone who can understand and coordinate the positions of both the government and the business community, having overseen industrial and trade policy in government and handled external relations and global business at companies.
Kim said, "As uncertainty in the global economy and trade environment grows, I will actively represent the voices of companies so they can grow steadily and create new opportunities." He added, "I will faithfully serve as a bridge between the government and the business community and do my utmost to enhance the global competitiveness of Korean companies."
