Incheon Metropolitan City Government and Incheon Technopark said on the 25th that they had established the 'Incheon ICT Complex' on the third floor of the Korea Teachers’ Credit Union Incheon Hall at 357 Baekbeom-ro, Namdong District, and held an opening ceremony.
The Incheon ICT Complex is a regional hub for the 'ICT Innovation Square Expansion Project' promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA). It will help strengthen the competitiveness of local companies and train specialists by advancing artificial intelligence transformation (AX), which applies AI technologies across industries.
The city secured 1.2 billion won in national funding in December last year and added 300 million won in local funds, investing a total of 1.5 billion won to push ahead with facility construction starting in March this year.
The Incheon ICT Innovation Square consists of one newly opened hub space and two training centers in Michuhol-gu and Namdong District. The ICT Complex includes an AX hands-on training room, an AX open lab, an open lounge, and workbenches for education and collaboration.
Going forward, the city plans to operate programs that citizens and companies can directly benefit from, including special lectures to raise awareness of AX, especially in manufacturing, as well as support for certifications and licenses, AX practical consulting, and education in new digital technologies.
Based on this year's project results, the city plans to begin full-scale operations next year. It also intends to design practical training programs that reflect the needs of learners and feedback from the local field.
Nam Young-hee, deputy mayor for balanced development, said, "The Incheon ICT Innovation Square will become a key pillar in fostering AI and software specialists and leading the digital transformation of local industries."
Following the opening ceremony, the city also held an expert seminar for pre-registered participants on the theme, 'Work and Value Chains Redefined by AI Agents.'
