Autopsy on body found in Hallim-eup, Jeju confirms it is missing woman Jang Mi-ran

[Financial News] The body found in Jeju 104 days after the woman went missing has been identified as Jang Mi-ran, 37, who had been missing for an extended period.
According to the Jeju Provincial Police Agency on the 25th, police conducted an autopsy on the body discovered the previous day between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. A verbal opinion from a forensic dentist said the dental analysis matched Jang.
At the time of discovery, the fingerprints had been lost, and police are urgently analyzing DNA collected from the body. No unusual fractures were found during the autopsy, according to reports.
Jang was found at around 10:46 a.m. on the 24th during a joint search in a palm grove near Daerim-ri, Hallim-eup, Jeju City. It had been 104 days since she disappeared after leaving the lodging where she had been staying long-term on May 12.
At the scene where the body was found, police also recovered Jang's mobile phone and e-cigarette, which she had with her when she went missing. She was wearing a bracelet and a ring.
Police are also conducting forensic analysis of Jang's mobile phone.
Earlier, the partner who had been living with Jang reported her missing to Jeju Western Police Station on May 15. However, it was later revealed that the officer in charge had told the reporter that contact had been made with Jang even though no actual contact had taken place, and closed the case about two and a half hours after the report was filed.
The National Police Agency has launched an internal inspection over the case and has placed four people in the command line, including former and current chiefs of Jeju Western Police Station, the head of the criminal division, and the missing persons team leader, on standby.
