[Financial News, Muan County = Reporter Hwang Tae-jong] Jeonnam Development Corporation is joining hands with Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) and the Center for Regional Development, Chonnam National University to build a cooperation framework for using idle state-owned property.
According to Jeonnam Development Corporation on the 25th, the three organizations signed a memorandum of understanding on the use of idle state-owned property and the establishment of a cooperation model at Choi Sang-jun Hall in Building 2 of the College of Business Administration at Chonnam National University.
The agreement was designed to establish a cooperative system for the efficient use of idle state-owned property and to identify utilization models and policy tasks suited to local conditions.
The three organizations will share policies and information related to the use of idle property, survey such assets and identify those that can be utilized, jointly study region-specific utilization models and policy tasks, examine best practices and build a cooperation network, and carry out joint projects such as seminars, forums and advisory sessions.
In particular, to improve the effectiveness of the agreement, each institution has defined its role more clearly. Jeonnam Development Corporation will lead cooperation projects, including reviewing policies for using idle property and drawing up ways to link them with public development projects. KAMCO will provide related information and identify usable assets, while the Center for Regional Development, Chonnam National University, will conduct research on idle-property utilization models and policy consulting that reflect local characteristics and conditions.
Jeonnam Development Corporation plans to use the agreement as a springboard to turn underused idle property into a new growth engine for the region.
It will first analyze the location, scale and surrounding conditions of candidate sites from multiple angles, then develop customized business models that can be linked to public development projects and gradually establish concrete utilization plans optimized for each asset's characteristics.
Assets with strong business potential will also be comprehensively reviewed for future renewable energy-linked candidate sites, taking into account laws and local acceptance.
Jeonnam Development Corporation President Jang Chung-mo said, "Idle state-owned property is an important asset that can become a new growth resource for the region depending on how it is used," adding, "Through this agreement, we will combine the asset management capabilities of public institutions with the research and policy expertise of universities to identify utilization models that can provide practical help to the region."
