[Financial News] As the high school credit system is set to take effect and the 2028 college admissions system is due for reform, admissions officials from major universities in Seoul and the Gyeongin region gathered to discuss practical standards for student selection and evaluation. The goal is to reflect rapid changes in the education field fairly and effectively in college admissions.
According to Soongsil University on the 25th, the Seoul and Gyeongin Region Admissions Directors Council recently held its summer regular general meeting and focused on ways to design admissions systems that align with the national direction of college admissions policy and changes at high schools.
At the meeting, key topics included changes at high schools following the introduction of the high school credit system and the need to redefine university evaluation standards. O Su-seok, a teacher at Somyeong Girls' High School, gave a lecture on "2028 College Admissions and Understanding Changes at High Schools," offering in-depth suggestions on evaluation standards and ways to help the system take root in the field so that real changes in the high school curriculum can be reflected in college admissions. Cha Jeong-in, chair of the National Education Commission, also shared the national direction for future college admissions policy and education reform tasks, outlining the policy stance.
Ahn Min-seok, superintendent of the Gyeonggi-do Office of Education, also presented major issues facing local education and proposed ways to build a closer cooperation system between universities and education offices, stressing the need to strengthen the link between public education and college admissions.
The council also shared the results of a survey on the bidding status of application systems for regular and early admissions at member universities, while exploring practical cooperation measures to improve the efficiency and fairness of admissions operations.
Jang Seong-yeon, head of admissions at Soongsil University and chair of the council, said, "It was a place where university admissions officials pooled their wisdom in step with changes in the future education environment and reforms to the admissions system." He added, "We will continue close communication with high schools and play an active role so that fair and effective college admissions can take root."
Meanwhile, the summer regular general meeting hosted by Soongsil University was held on the 21st at JW Marriott Hotel Seoul in Seocho-gu, Seoul, with admissions directors and officials from universities in the Seoul and Gyeongin region in attendance.
