Metropolitan cultural content heads to Daegu, the city of textiles... Sookmyung Women's University embroidery museum special exhibition goes on tour

[Financial News] A high-quality textile art exhibition that had been concentrated in the Seoul metropolitan area will be held in Daegu, Korea's leading city of textiles.
Sookmyung Women's University Chung Young Yang Embroidery Museum said on the 25th that it will hold a regional touring exhibition of its special exhibition "Connection-Expansion," currently on view at its main Seoul building, at the Daegu Textile Museum in Dong-gu, Daegu Metropolitan City, from the 26th to Sept. 30.
The touring exhibition was made possible after being selected for the "K-Museum Regional Touring Exhibition and Tour Support Project (Museum Connection)," hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korean Museum Association. The project aims to expand access to culture and the arts beyond the Seoul metropolitan area and major cities, and to build a sustainable local cultural ecosystem by linking exhibitions with regional tourism resources.
The exhibition highlights women's labor, community solidarity and artistic expansion through a shared East-West method of joining pieces of cloth. It features traditional textile artifacts, including 19th-century American quilts and East Asian Jogakbo, along with experimental sculptural works by five artists — Kwon Ki-mi, Kim Kyung-ah, Kim Mi-sik, Park Sook-hee and Cho Hee-eun — who reinterpret them with a contemporary sensibility.
Beyond simple viewing, the exhibition will also be linked with local businesses and tourism programs. Throughout September, an integrated exhibition-and-tourism program titled "Daegu, Culture and Arts Healing Tour" will connect museums and art galleries in the city with Suseong Lake, one of Daegu's signature attractions, in an effort to draw more visitors to the region.
Meanwhile, the special exhibition "Connection-Expansion" at the Sookmyung Women's University Chung Young Yang Embroidery Museum's main Seoul building will run until Dec. 30.
