Hampyeong County to Pay 500,000 Won Livelihood Recovery Subsidy per Resident Before Chuseok

[Financial News, Hampyeong = Hwang Tae-jong] Hampyeong County will provide a 500,000 won livelihood recovery subsidy per resident from Sept. 7 to Oct. 8.
The subsidy is intended to help stabilize residents' livelihoods amid the economic slowdown and to boost local consumption and revitalize neighborhood businesses.
Eligible recipients are people who have maintained a resident registration or stay status in Hampyeong County continuously from July 1, 2026, through the application date. The program includes not only registered residents but also marriage immigrants and permanent residents. The subsidy will be issued as a prepaid card worth 500,000 won per person.
Applications will be accepted from Sept. 7 to Oct. 8 at the township and town offices with jurisdiction over the applicant's registered or stay address, during weekday business hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
However, during the first week of applications, from Sept. 7 to 11, a five-day rotation system will be in place based on the last digit of the birth year. Residents whose birth year ends in 1 or 6 may apply on Sept. 7, those ending in 2 or 7 on Sept. 8, those ending in 3 or 8 on Sept. 9, those ending in 4 or 9 on Sept. 10, and those ending in 5 or 0 on Sept. 11.
From Sept. 14 to Oct. 8, anyone may apply regardless of birth year. During the same period, mobile on-site applications will also be available in villages to help residents with limited mobility and others who need assistance.
The prepaid card can be used at merchants that accept the Hampyeong Sarang gift certificate, and it will remain valid until Dec. 31, 2026.
Hampyeong County Governor Lee Nam-o said, "I hope this livelihood recovery subsidy will help residents stabilize their daily lives during difficult times," adding, "I also hope it will lead to higher local spending and bring new vitality to the local economy."
