Land minister says second relocation of public institutions set for October or November

[Financial News] Kim Yun-duk, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said on the 25th that the second relocation of public institutions is expected to take place in October or November.
Appearing before the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts at the National Assembly that day, Kim said in response to a question about the second relocation, "We need to go through a public discussion process, so I expect it to be around October or November."
Kim explained, "Since the heads of local governments all changed after the local elections, we are hearing opinions mainly from those who were newly elected," adding, "We also need to hear from the labor unions of each public institution, so we will wrap it up through public hearings and hearings."
The second relocation had widely been expected to be submitted to the State Council on the same day, but it was postponed. The delay appears to stem from the fact that only two months have passed since the launch of local governments elected in the ninth round of local elections, while opposition from labor unions at each public institution has also grown.
Government sources said the institutions under consideration for relocation are believed to number about 350, including the Financial Supervisory Service, the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC), the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC), and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
