Will the ruling party go all the way against Lee Jin-sook? ... Expulsion resolution pushed through

[Financial News] The Democratic Party of Korea is moving to push through disciplinary action against People Power Party lawmaker Lee Jin-sook. It forced through a resolution urging her expulsion at the National Assembly's House Steering Committee. Lee has also come under fire for holding a forum with a civic group that has been criticized for disparaging the Gwangju Democratization Movement.
The resolution, submitted to the committee's plenary session on the 25th, passed under the leadership of the ruling bloc without the People Power Party present. It was placed on the agenda at the discretion of committee chair Han Byung-do of the Democratic Party of Korea.
At the meeting, Han said, "A person who denies history cannot sit in the National Assembly, which was built on that history." He added, "Beyond a resolution urging expulsion, we will do everything we can to make sure she is actually expelled."
The Democratic Party of Korea had previously submitted a disciplinary motion against Lee. The process has not moved forward because the National Assembly Ethics Special Committee has yet to be formed. The committee has remained unconstituted for some time, as disciplinary motions have also been filed against several lawmakers from both the People Power Party and the Democratic Party of Korea. In response, the Democratic Party of Korea introduced a revision to the National Assembly Act to make the ethics committee permanent, and the bill has been referred to the House Steering Committee bill review subcommittee.
Lee pushed back against the Democratic Party's criticism and instead filed a complaint over Kim Min-seok's remark calling her a "female Hitler." The People Power Party also argued that, in the name of the constitutional right to freedom of expression, lawmakers should not be subjected to case-by-case censorship of their statements.
