[Exclusive] YouTuber accused of stalking Jang Dong-hyuk sent to prosecutors; no-contact order extended

[Financial News] A left-leaning YouTuber who was accused of stalking People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk has been referred to prosecutors.
According to police and prosecutors on the 25th, Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station sent two men, identified by their surnames Choi and Park, to the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office without detention on June 29 on charges including violating the Stalking Punishment Act. The two host the YouTube channel "Jeongchi Hanjan Nabal Independent Army."
They are accused of repeatedly following Jang from late last year to early this year while asking questions such as, "When will you sell your six homes?" at his public appearances.
Jang, who was then serving as chair of the People Power Party's Special Committee on Normalizing Real Estate Policy, became embroiled in controversy over his ownership of multiple homes during a clash between the ruling and opposition parties over the government's real estate measures announced in October last year. He filed a complaint with police against Choi and others on March 24.
Police later requested a temporary measure on April 17 to bar them from approaching Jang within 100 meters.
Three days later, the Seoul Southern District Court accepted the request and issued a no-contact order against Jang that remained in effect until the 19th of last month.
As the temporary measure was nearing expiration, prosecutors applied on the 3rd of last month to extend the period. The court decided the same day to keep the no-contact order in place until around October.
It has been confirmed that all videos related to the allegations have now been deleted from the Jeongchi Hanjan channel.
