[Financial News, Jeonju = Reporter Kang In] A woman in her 40s has been arrested for borrowing credit cards and spending 13.1 billion won by promising to pay interest.
According to police on the 25th, the Jeonju Deokjin Police Station in North Jeolla Province arrested a woman in her 40s, identified as A, on fraud charges and other allegations.
A is accused of deceiving victims from last year through recently by saying, 'If you lend me your credit card, I will pay back the principal plus interest,' and using 13.1 billion won.
She paid the card bills and interest to victims using a Ponzi-like scheme.
However, as the scale grew and she could no longer manage it, she turned herself in to police.
So far, more than 40 victims have filed complaints.
Police are investigating how the crimes were carried out and whether there were additional offenses.
