NHIS Delivers Mobile Laundry Services to Flood-Hit Geoje-si and Provides Emergency Relief Fund

[Financial News] The National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) has visited Geoje-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, which was recently declared a special disaster zone after severe damage from record-breaking torrential rain, and has begun support efforts to help residents recover their daily lives.
On the 25th, NHIS said it carried out mobile laundry volunteer work in the Geoje area and also delivered an emergency relief fund for affected residents.
The volunteer activity was organized to support households whose homes and living facilities were flooded by the heavy rain, and to ease daily inconveniences for older adults and vulnerable groups who have difficulty moving around or doing laundry themselves.
That day, NHIS urgently deployed an 8.5-ton mobile laundry vehicle and collected household laundry, including blankets and clothing contaminated by flooding, from more than 50 households. The items were then washed, dried, and delivered back to each home.
NHIS employees also took part in every stage of the volunteer work, from collecting and sorting laundry to washing, drying, and delivering it to each household, helping residents return to normal life amid the flood recovery effort.
In addition, NHIS delivered a 5 million won fund through the Gyeongsangnam-do Social Welfare Council to support emergency living expenses for flood victims. The fund will be used to help about 100 affected residents staying in 27 temporary shelters in the Geoje area.
Kang Cheong-hee, Chairman, Board of Trustees of NHIS, said, "I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the residents of the Geoje area who were affected by the sudden torrential rain." He added, "As a public institution that protects the health of the people, we will continue to reach out first to places where help is needed and provide the care and support necessary for residents to return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
Meanwhile, NHIS has continued to promote social contribution activities with local communities, including recovery work in disaster-hit areas and support for vulnerable groups, based on the voluntary participation of its employees when disasters occur.
